Bundle of Nerves

by Maple Tree   Jan 19, 2013

I fumbled through newspapers
like a scorned lover in a panic
attack haze.

Where could I find a coupon
for an elixir that smooths
the edges of my damaged
aura?

The coffee cup shakes
in a twisted, feverish
rotation, spilling the last
few drops upon my snow
white collar.

Over the hill hallucinations
baffle a peace lover like
myself, causing me to
question my ability to
shine.

In a reckless race to
the powder room, I
do a double take glance,
to reassure myself one
last time,

that I'm good enough-

The mirror becomes
a smoke ring haze
of truth, cracking
a smile, where a
smile doesn't exist
anymore..

at that pin point moment
I realize I'm the contender
living beyond my dreams,
strength isn't packaged
in an antidepressant
capsule, but deep in
the flesh beating depths
of my pure heart....

You will always shine my Sunny Maple Tree. I love this mostly because I think I understand it. Let me know if you find that coupon and make me a copy. :).

OH WOW! This is pretty awesome, as is all your poetry, but I really love the wording here, and the flow, it was flawlessly smooth throughout...and it has a message, tells a story, the emotion is evident but its secret...

    I Love this piece...
