Jet Ski Of Life

by Andrew Packard   Jan 20, 2013

Asleep in a slumber,
Draw String Wrapped Tight.
Frozen in the Tundra,
Far away is the night.

Given up on Life,
No longer inspires.
Nothing Rises 'cept strife,
Bone hand tug spiral fire...

Psyche turns Head spin,
Message from nowhere.
Lightening from Within,
Draws you from your lair.

Eyes move through visionless slits,
Ears hear approaching drone.
Points of light, ice cracks,
Machine gleam metal shone.

Leap! When it goes by,
Now! It might be right.
Grip tight one more try,
Burn! Jet Ski of Life ...

I knew your work reminded of someone, but I didn't know who, until now. You have a similar style as Emily D. (I couldn't spell out her last name b/c it was considered inappropriate). It's sporadic and provides specific images, while leaving the rest for the reader to interpret, and the way you capitalize certain words, normally seen as incorrect, is visually appealing. It's a very rare style that may not be as appreciated today, but you definitely make it your own.

As for the poem, itself, I really like the message and the metaphor of skiing. Life is a rush, full of bumpy slopes, and sometimes, you get hurt. But you have to get back up and strap on that ski. (Sorry for being so cheesy, haha.) Nice job, Andrew!

This poem is about timing. Seeing, hearing something big coming and jumping on it at just the right time!

But yeah, I like yer interpretation!
