A prayer

Beyond fear and desire
the harvest of self-interest sown
we breech the walls dividing
through loving kindness shone

the former in nature is animal
inasmuch the new humane
true reason then is sovereign
in compassions' name

no single person can boast
for themself earth doth foster life
or that sun from heaven sends
to him alone its compass of light

we all at times concuring
our best would have it done
let us no more obfuscate
and share the world as one
