Glimpse Of Reason

When my heart is locked
inside its cage,
it refuses entry to your love
and denies access to your words.

It changes its belief
like the wind changes direction,
making it impossible to be near you.

And I don't know what to do,
I don't know what to say,
when I fear it will all be over
because my heart cannot escape.

But it matters to me
that it matters to you
when you see my heart trapped behind bars.

At least when I catch
little glimpses of you,
it reminds me of the reason
I must try to break free.
