Fulfilment

by Larry Chamberlin   Jan 22, 2013

In the stands you could
just make out her face
lost amid team colors
for a contest she rarely
understood or cared for
except that I was on the field.

Whenever I was slow
to get back to my feet
she hid her hands
but I knew they were wrung
with anxiety and I ached
so that her fears
would not be groundless.
