His Juliet

He says that I am the perfect girl.
He uses 'I love you' like an excuse.
He tells me I'm his whole world,
When it reality, I was just another to use.
Nothing special, just a thing to pass the time.
Not beautiful, not wonderful like he said.
He was never really mine.
He didn't lie, just was always in my head.
He didn't cheat, just stole my heart when we first met.
And with those words that always made me smile.
"You're my Juliet."

I never thought I would see the day,
That I would believe another human being so much.
But after the fallout, after the pain,
I saw that he was always sorry and such,
He didn't take anything back, just kept going,
As if nothing happened, nothing changed yet.
But when I thought about what he used to say, now it's mind blowing.
I'll never be his Juliet.

I promise myself this now,
I say it to release my heart,
From the misery of asking how,
How could I believe someone who's never played the part?
He's never held me close,
He's never promised the future to me.
Yet those were the words I wanted to hear most.
Then I found out something funny.
Something that made me pause.
I fount that he's never seen the play,
And I found out the cause,
And it stopped my laugh,
It made me feel like a pet.
But it makes me smile now,
Because he doesn't know Juliet.
