Before the Attack [Chi'-I-Yhen-Shih]

by Rusheena   Jan 28, 2013

Inspired by the poem "After The Attack" by Carrie Etter

Mom and Dad don't look both ways.
They seem to be deaf and dumb.
We sit and wait for the days
that our lives will wane and numb.

*This was assignment for my Creative Writing class, written April 2012. A Chi'-I-Yen-Shih is a poem composed of four-seven syllable lines (7777) in ABAB end rhyme. Each line is composed of monosyllabic words and there is a caesura (a pause in a line and is indicated either by punctuation or by a natural pause) after the fourth word in each. Mine was suppose to look like this: http://randomrusheena.blogspot.com/2013/01/before-attack-chi-i-yhen-shih.html*

Interesting form, never heard of it before and you made it look really easily.

I like the message of the poem, perhaps showing into the relationship between a child and their parent and how they do not understand somethings because they do not look close enough.

    Nice job!
