The darkness outside was fathomless
And the Pacific Ocean had become a nameless ocean
Its waves lapped harmlessly below me
Gurgling out fairy tales of us in Springfield
But I was not in Springfield
And we were not facing each other
The problems and the pleasures on that opposite shore could not possibly cross the wide ocean
The thought of that other side was almost a warm recollection in our numbness Remembering old anxieties in new comfort seems unnecessary at first
And then seem silly
