As I wake up to another day with you on my mind,
Purpose is what I try to find,
To have a woman that completes a part of you,
Who takes you for better or worse sticking to you like glue,
We were woodchips from the same tree,
By chance is how we came to be,
Meeting you from a group of strangers,
Neither of us could have known the danger,
We were husband and wife without the documents,
Loving and caring for each other is what we represent,
Bringing you medicine when sick, giving you half my food when hungry,
Now we can't even call each other, isn't that funny,
Locked in a cage called your life,
Sharing it with a fellow who doesn't deserve to call you his wife,
Causing you to relapse, cutting more, driving you insane,
Making you kick me to the curve, telling you I am to blame,
Wanting to run away,
But being forced to stay,
Packed your bags, almost out the door,
Turning around one last time to see your children playing on the floor,
I wish things could have been different I'm sorry,
My presence causing you pain I'm sorry,
Showing me the cuts on your arm I'm sorry,
Walking to me saying we can never be you're sorry,
When times get tough and things seem dire just look up,
God has a plan for you, he will never give up,
Hold on to your children, they will look up to you,
But when you get down and want to run away or cut, just close your eyes and remember that I love you.
-This is the hardest poem that I had to write. A woman who was very dear to my heart, stripped from me forever. She will never see this poem, but she knows how I feel. I love you S.A.
