What's Depression Like?

by Natasha   Jan 31, 2013

It's like drowning in your own thoughts.
Like you're being suffocated.
But you can see everyone else is breathing.

And you're jealous.

It's a dark tunnel with no end.

So very true... I couldn't have explained it better if I'd tried.

I can see your dark tunnel. This is a condensed poem of a huge feeling. PERFECT.

I like how the title was a question and the actual poem was the direct answer.

I don't really like the words "like" in the first two lines, maybe it could be used more like a metaphor.

    For example:

"It's drowning in your own thoughts,

suffocating ______" maybe add a metaphor there?

Not trying to change your whole poem, I just think it would benefit it more and give it more depth. :)

I like the addition of jealousy. It is different than what most people combine with depression. It works nicely.

What I like about this is that you have made your title the question and then answered it within the poem and in a few short lines you have summed it up. The horrible feeling you get when you just want to be happy and it seems like every one around you is happy but it someting you will never have.
