Perfect Birthday

I spent today inside a dream
so that I could be with you,
to be beside you and feel you near
and to celebrate my life with you.

The truth is that there is no one else
I could have shared it with because
without having you, there would be
no life to celebrate.

We spent all day together
doing the kind of things that
can seem so small but the memories
are larger than life itself.

You made me feel so special,
like I was truly loved. You spoiled me
with presents and then you
showered me with love.

I fell asleep inside my dream
because I wanted this day to last forever.
But when morning came and I opened my eyes
I could see you next to me.

There was no need for me to sleep
for this was not a dream.
I spent the perfect day with you
and this time it was real.
