Just so you know

by Chelsey   Feb 6, 2013

I wish I could start this poem out with an inappropriate way
of screaming how incredibly frustrated I am, but I've never
written without mannerism. My poetry will always remain
classy and with couth because I'm a lady. I am kind.

But, just so you know, I can't tell who the hell to be mad at
right now. You? Or me? What did we get ourselves into?
I know I'm not the only one awake dying to talk to you,
the only one refusing to speak, the only one going
completely insane over how badly I want you. You are too.

This is such a wrong desire, such a confliction of
our hearts, such mistreatment of what is right.
I think the proper thing to do would be to lay out
our feelings, give this a shot, do something more
than let this linger into nothing. Yet, we don't.

Just so you know, I am no longer trespassing
your "do not enter sign", no longer breaking
windows to reach your soul, no longer dining
with hope, no longer laboring chance. I'm
over this mess we created. Over this aching.

I am done wanting you.

Just so you know...

this will only last the night.

I loved the honesty in this piece, and how you let the reader see the vulnerability in your sadness.

    Amazing hon :)

    - really strong opening, it is like you want to let all the anger out but you do not want to degrade your poetry with that emotion and change a part of yourself for the sake of how he has made you feel. I love this attitude and can tell the frustration inside the words and how youa re trying to push it down.

But, just so you know, I can't tell who the hell to be mad at

    - This is showing a list of how you both miss each other and want each other but yet none of you seem to admit it to each other or do anythign about it? Therefor you are left with this frustration. Completely insane is a nice touch as it shows the only thing on your mind is this and it is slowly driving your mind into craziness!

    - I like the feeling of a love that perhaps shouldn't be in the eyes of others, which maybe is not what your intent was but I got the feeing in the start of this stanza. Then your head is telling you to just let it all go and give it a shot but nothing ever seems to happen. I adore the line "let this linger into nothing" - it is like if you do not take this chance right now then it will be gone forever and it seems none of you want this.

    - what I like about this end stanza is that it shows me that perhaps he is the one blocking the love out as it is you who describes trying to reach him but being turned away by signs and barriers. I think this is why you then shut down from the feeling and deny yourself that you want them anymore, when inside you probably still do.

    Just so you know...

this will only last the night.

    - Love this short ending, I think it is a message of hope to yourself rather than a fact, like you cannot take another night of feeling this so you want to deny it all and move on. When in reality it will not be that easy to forget but seems less painful to forget it.

I really enjoyed this and related to a lot of the meaning. Loved the honest emotion. xxxx

I just can't stop from getting the shivers after reading this Chels...it is so powerful. From talking about the ache of your heart because you want him and he feels the same and just the confusion of it will go anywhere good....you express these thoughts with passion. It's definitely deeper than just someone getting into a tizzy, this is something that seems to be taking the energy out of you and that last line just struck me. You've come to that decision, it's the right move, you have to do what's right for you too and I certainly feel it's not fair for your heart to go through all this. Amazing piece as always :]

Awww.... Chelsey I love this poem! So honest and heartfelt... I could relate to what you've expressed. I like the simplicity of this poem, and how it appears to be about two people who are either broken up or have feelings for each other but don't want to take the chance, and how they both contemplate speaking to each other, but would rather not... It's something I'm sure a lot of people can relate to.

I really enjoyed this poem... and I like the ending.. I like how you show you can only be strong for a short time, and then that feeling comes back again.

    Well done hon!
