A Spider's Tale

by Skyler   Feb 12, 2013

A spider stopped one day and said
"What makes the thoughts inside my head?"
Oblivious, the donkey brayed
"My thoughts are made of lemonade!"

The donkey didn't have a clue
Of all things, this, the spider knew
So up into the house she went
'Til all her spider strength was spent

And asked the lazy window cat
"Where in my body is the soul at?"
The cat stretched out and with a yawn
batted the spider down onto the lawn.

The spider, never one to fret
Turned a spider Pirouette
"I guess the thoughts that make me "me"
Are mine alone, to some degree."

A spider coming to a philosophical conclusion, it's unique to say the least! I really enjoyed this, it was easy to read yet held a lot more meaning than one may expect. I really like how you can turn simple things into thought provoking pieces while still keeping the approachable style! Fair play. [:

I really like your wordplay and the rhythm; it flows perfectly with your whimsical theme. This could easily make a really nice story because the imagery is vivid enough, where you don't need illustrations. Again, nice work.
