Shackles

by Daylight Lucidity   Feb 20, 2013

The shackles return
And bear the memories
Of love once pure,
Now pain I endure
My heart burns, it lies empty
Whenever I glance at her...
Why must she break all barriers
I create while avoiding she of heartache
Must I shatter once again
To show her it's best I leave for sanity's sake?
No longer do I have an urge to stay.
Where lies the noble light
That pools within the moon
And brightens the darkest of nights
While I curl upon the floor where my heart is strewn
And am bound by the shackles of love's past
I have yet to know how long I'll last
Amongst such lingering pain
That she will never let me walk away from
I try to forget all that she uttered again and again...
She was wasted time, uncaring, and heartless
Eyes colder and more numb than the coldest glacier
Soul deeper than the blackest darkness
And love that bled me like a razor...
The shackles return
And bear the memories
Of love once pure,
Now pain I endure
While I remain burning within
And begging for her to feel my pain
As my life tries to begin
Anew and unscathed by such heavy chains.

Loved this poem. I felt you wanting and needing to leave but you can't. Her shackles forever, bleeding you. Shackles and blood that she is oblivious to. Good poem. ;)
