It's about the picture "lunch atop a skyscraper", right? When I first read this poem I could immediately imagine that picture even without knowing, even though you took the more saddening aspect of that picture (must've been something derived from the research you did?). Really enjoyed this piece of yours, it says so much with so few lines. And the structure kind of looks like a skyscraper, or maybe that's just me. :') Well done!

In my opinion, this is the best poem you've ever written so far! The first time I read this, I feel in love with it. I love the elegant tone of this piece probably because of it's excellent and meticulous theme and ambiance.

The title is really catchy, courageous wings - love the positive vibes of these words.

    The ending is perfect, too!

    Really nice poem, Andrea!

Thank you for the comments and compliments Ladies! Yes, I need to post the title of the picture, you are correct Huntress... that was the photo.. actually that is one of my favorite historical photos.. so when I saw it as an option in the contest, I chose it right away.. I dug a bit deeper into the history.. I wanted to be factual, but also take it to an emotional level in my poem... again thank you, your comments mean allot to me :-)

Well done on the research, gave the bones of the poem real meat.
The poem gives these men a purpose, I like that they do this for their family, to put food on the table. Makes you look at them and realise that life today is a million miles from this. We have created a society of celeb crazed ambitious lazy bar stewards.
What I like about the picture is they have a sense of pride and purpose, you have added in emotion.
    great job.

Love where you took this photograph. The picture shows clearly what the men are doing but it leaves a lot to think about what they are thinking. This is one route of their thoughts and how they go through this every day in order to feed their families and provide them with warm houses and a life to live.

    Beautiful job. xx
