Winter Wonderland (Chained Haiku)

by Jenni Marie   Feb 27, 2013

Delicate flowers
blooming, peeking through white snow
supreme perfection

small birds twittering
animals awakening
from their deep slumber

fluffy clouds appear
alluring pale horizon
amiable breeze blows

sand softens once more
dew glistening on treetops
waves ripple calmly

Gentle showers fall
removing lingering ice
purifying earth

winter wonderland
curling beneath crisp dark soil
Spring's turn to flourish

This is a really well written poem, capable of peacefully stimulating our senses, especially sight and hearing, that little by little, as each of these images are presented through the newer stanzas, are welcoming the upcoming spring, getting closer and closer as you keep reading .... and it's also interesting to see that the poem's conclusion is somehow connected to the start .... the delicate flowers of the first verse, are what perhaps represents spring the most (last verse). 5 stars.
