I really love the message behind this, Ingrid. To me it feels like those inspirational anthems/songs. At first sight, I thought it was really about your sisters, but since you said 'different colors' I knew you meant women in general.

    Great piece.

Beautiful and speaks straight to my soul Ingrid!!! :] I love this write and the strength in every single word. Your voice can be felt so passionately in this. I also like how you mentioned the shadows...stepping away and facing the true light of day. Very inspirational, glad I could read!

Very inspirational! The beginning really captured my attention, it felt as if you were talking to me. "Get up!" I was almost like, "Yes, ma'am!"

Whoever you've written this to, you've given her every reason possible to get up and stand tall.

    " no matter the color
of your skin or the humbleness of your home"

Those are not good enough excuses to not get up and stand tall. And if they still have any reason to sit down still, they're simply making themselves "weak" giving "up without a fight."

I hope everyone who reads this piece sees reasons they cannot give up.

Thanks Ingrid, for sharing this. I'm already up and I will stand tall!

    5/5

    Ingrid,

this poem grabs the attention of the reader in its use of vocabulary, 'get up' 'stand tall' and my favourite 'sister'. The word sister will mean different things to readers. For me it reminds me of my sister who sadly passed this year. This poem for conjures a ghostly, yet heavenly world where 'ageless' souls can 'step into the bright light of day'.

I loved this and the imagery it has created for me.

    thank you ((hugs))

What a poem say, says much about the poet. Ingrid, what i always like about you is the humanity that lies within you. You called every women sisters, this touches me so much in a way it made me think of all those people who never put their feet in another person shoes. The message i got from this poem is, be you, never ceased to be you, chase your dreams and do it for you.
    Nicely penned, kel.

This poem Ingrid as I interprete it, is about women standing up for their rights, 'Womens Lib' if you like.
I applaud your choice of subject here, yes women, go girls go! Another winner Ingrid!
