Ignore Rant Villanelle

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 1, 2013

How many times have you spoken to be ignored?
Have you ever been so compelled to simply rant?
Sometimes do you just listen because you're bored?

Have you ever attempted to use words like a sword,
Or tried to use restraint when it seems you just can't?
How many times have you spoken to be ignored?

Many of us choose to hear on our own accord.
Do your thoughts vary or are they very constant?
Sometimes do you just listen because you're bored?

They say ignorance is bliss with a dull reward
A sharp tongue insults with words not relevant
How many times have you spoken to be ignored?

With the finest devises that we can afford
Communication can be humble, or arrogant.
Sometimes do you just listen because you're bored?

To reject the Mighty Truth is reject our Lord
To follow destructive paths of the ignorant
How many times have you spoken to be ignored?
Sometimes do you just listen because you're bored?

^ pretty good, those are the lines that were repeated in the refrains. And also the ones that make up this poem. They go hand on hand. I thought this poem was like the title says a rant spoken to those who feel this fit to them. I felt it wasn't being spoken to anyone in particular. It was more of a poem who aimed to make the reader think about the questions.

And if one speaks, it's not to be ignored in my opinion
and if one hears, may or may not be due to being bored but it may give tht reason if one ignores when hearing. Though, one usually ignores when we have other things that grab our attention. Or when we are busy. Ignoring can be done intentionally or unintentionally, regardless it will be call ignoring.

good piece, there were parts that I feel didn't join well.
in last stanza, and that will be idea wise rather than flow in my opinion.
I also towards the end forgot the rest of the poem, my only focus were the refrains and also I lost/couldn't find the reason why the questions were asked.

To reject the Mighty Truth is reject our Lord
To follow destructive paths of the ignorant

^^ to reject the mighty truth...
To follow destructive paths<-- this part right here was the one I felt didn't join well.
