I am too young to be alone in this world.
I wonder if my life has a purpose.
I hear society saying I'm wrong.
I see disapproval in my parents' eyes.
I want to please everyone, but never can.

I feel stressed by the pressure to be perfect.
I touch the applications for the medical school I'm not sure I want to attend.
I worry that I'll never be good enough.
I cry when I'm forced to stop working.

I understand how my choices affect my future.
I say what I believe, though it has gotten me death threats.
I dream of acting, feeling all eyes on me.
I try to see why my family disagrees with my dream.
I hope I'm not disowned because of my choice.
