Final Defeat

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 3, 2013

Like a sudden stroke of thunder
your fist struck my face, leaving a
storm printed upon my cheek.
Scars and bruises have faded with time
and through fear they have learned
to blend into the colour of my skin.

But like a bolt of lightning
the patience inside of me snapped
and I found myself able to hit you back.
I gave you back each single bruise
you ever planted on my body, then left
you begging helplessly on your knees.

My voice screamed out and threatened you
with sirens of police and a life time behind bars
if you ever came near me again.
I stood tall and proud as I looked at myself
in the mirror, wiping away my tears
and soothing my swollen cheek.

But then my heart sank
like a ship made of metal
when your reflection appeared over my shoulder.
A grin spread widely across your face
as you beamed with pride when you saw
your latest work of art.

Seeing the control in your eyes
with your powerful stare, makes me crumble
to the floor and land on my bleeding knees.
You will never know that every time
you beat me to the ground, inside I am
fighting back with every ounce of strength I have left.

But we both know that will never be enough to stop you.

So go ahead,
finish me off,
I give up on wasting my energy
on something I know I can never win.

This is a powerful piece Saffie, it was emotionally charged and full of turns and changes in your emotions, the piece was a rush of life...
but NEVER GIVE UP because you can win, you will win, and I believe that, I know that.

    This write hit me hard,

    love you Safs :)
