Rope Of Death

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 3, 2013

I never planned on leaving this world
until I was old and grey.
But sometimes life
just works out a different way.
I don't have the strength
to fight the demons on my own,
nor the devil who eats my heart
and burns away my soul.
He has stolen everything
I needed to survive,
turning me inside out
and leaving me upside down
for my blood to run dry.

Final thoughts come
flooding to my brain
as I drown in the sorrow
of saying goodbye to you.
But when your tightly choked
by the rope of death
there is nothing left to do,

except feel your life
slip from your hands
and cry as you watch
all of your memories
slowly drip
out of your mind
and fade
away.

Great write, Saffie. I love the flow and your choice of words.

    "But when your tightly choked
    by the rope of death
there is nothing left to do,"

This line really stuck with me because I can imagine someone feeling to urge to end their life and thinking that there's no other way, very powerful. You've portrayed a very sad story that unfortunately happens too often.
