Mistress of Gloom

by The Lady of Shalott   Mar 8, 2013

Sleep fair maiden, peacefully,
lay down your earthly woes.
For your knight has gone to battle,
to face unconquerable foes.

Little souls who thirst for bloodshed,
men born and bred to die.
Their families left to mourn them,
we all must say goodbye.

Why do you cry, oh, fair maiden?
Has your soul been so torn apart?
Oh, sorrowful girl by the water,
has cruel Death broken your heart?

Sleep little womanchild, restfully,
in the tranquility of your watery tomb.
Death's fair new bride has laid down by his side,
once fair maiden now Mistress of Gloom.
