II. - The brightest smile

by Leanthil   Mar 8, 2013

When the garden of death withers in hues of all,
And the screams of dryads fill the starry sky,
Wanders a child alone; grasping her very soul
A midwinter's scary tale can only try.

Far away from what this rotten world can offer,
Her embrace brings kindness, that heaven denies,
While a twinkling moonlight painted it all over
With the burning scarlet of so many lives.

So innocent a sight, it moves stars so mighty,
When the power of their smile's already gone,
In her eyes a pagan purity so brightly
Reflects the cries of all, and the smile of one.

Only in the deaf space echoes her deadly sin,
Flaming sword of judgement missed another call,
Even destiny just made another forced grin,
Seeing such a Butcher laughing at her fall.

Holy words in her mouth - a foolish mortal's lie -
An ancient grimoire called demons to stay;
I pity her. She feels the same as me, when I
Got stuck on the endless path of Moral's way.

What a way to introduce yourself to the site. To be honest I was browsing through the nominated poems this week and was bored. A terrible week this week for nominations, partly because it appears that love and friendship category's are still having problems and partly because PnQ has seemed a bit quiet this week.
So thank God for Leanthil, this poem is a rose among 'angst ridden rambles' (Britt's aside)
This poem has a structure, it rhymes really well and is unforced, the imagery and attention to detail is really well crafted, In fact the first stanza is one of the best examples of an opening stanza I have read for a few weeks.
Welcome to the site Leanthil, you write really well.
