Dementia Delicatessen

"Dementia Delicatessen"

Evil never tasted so good,
As Bovine for Brunch.
Or maybe Honey Baked Ham,
Select Sweet Tasty Cuts for Lunch.

Just a little fecal matter,
In your family tradition.
There's nothing wrong with it,
It absorbs in the digestive system.

Eating Carcass,
Who knows what we've become?
Just change the name,
It's not so gruesome.

But what did the meat that you eat Eat?
Genetically mutated Brains of sheep,
And offal that's Awful!

Now before your Heart,
skips a beat.
And all your bodily fluids,
start to seep.

You've gotta ask yourself,
Some Questions.....
Does your protein,
Contain Prions?

The time is past,
To Repent.
As you disjoint,
Seized up and spent.

Lately your outlook,
Appears ghastly.
Your inner self,
Becoming Spongy.

No Doctor,
Can save you now.
Scientists,
don't even know how.

Horror,
So Dreadful,
Called by the CDC,
The worst Death Imaginable....

Named after a Tribe of Cannibals,
In New Guinea it is said.
That were fond of eating,
The brains and flesh of their dead.

What was that sound?
Your stomach - oh please.
Just pass me some more,
German bratwurst with Headcheese.

Love this! To be honest, I had no idea that was about mad cow disease, until you me, but it totally makes sense now. Again, I like that the images aren't completely described, so the reader can fill the blanks, makes a good discussion for interpretation. I also like that you didn't shy away from imagery that's not pleasing to the senses. I love the wordplay and the bits of humor; it gives the poem a sadistic tone, even though the subject matter is serious, but I guess that' s appropriate, sense it's about mad cow disease. I never thought a poem about an illness could be so whimsical, but you made it work. Nominated, again ;) Great work, Andrew; keep it up!

For the Weekend challenge: Personifying Illness

It's not mentioned in the Poem...

Did you guess that this is about Mad Cow Disease?

I was vegetarian for 10 - 13 years as I was married to a Vegan! My Diet has become a little more tastier and lazier as I have gone back to beef (meat) after my divorce. Not healthier just Freer and happier! But not guilt free! LOL
