Eternal Sleep

by Jenni Marie   Mar 20, 2013

Goosebumps, hairs on high alert
Eyes slowly filter through the trees
Suddenly, she's face down in the dirt
As she's roughly thrown on her knees

Foot on her back, keeping her still
though she's struggling with all her might
slowly but surely; she's losing her will
realizing she's already lost this fight

face down, gasping for breath
losing the will to survive
praying; questioning if this is a test
pleading silently to be left alive

blackness engulfing her soul
lone tear slips down her cheek
aware she's losing her self control
now just wanting rest, eternal sleep

she's losing grip and she's giving in
doesn't want to struggle anymore
slowly being torn apart from within
tired, so tired; at always being ignored

no longer resisting, broken eyes cry
leaving a life that never truly begun
dimly wondering when she became so awry
and admitting, her depression has won

I'm addicted to your poetry for some reason lately, I suppose because I sympathize with you & all your emotions you're going through. This poem shows someone who has gone through so much and feels like giving up, because they are sick of everything & just want an end. I can feel your struggle here, I feel the weight of your emotions so much here, that at the end of the poem you feel the same way you do. You deserve none of this, and I hope soon it will all be over so you can catch a break. Another raw poem of so much emotion. Love.
