Voices

by Jack Nightengale   Mar 22, 2013

They hear me, speak to me,
Scratching, slithering, crawling,
In my mind as I sleep, through my eyes so that they can see.
Thriving, striving through my brain, something so vile it's mind boggling.

When I sleep, when I wake,
Slumbering in the depths, but rumbling like an earthquake.
Tell me things I need to do,
Haunting my reality turn this nightmare blue.

When I eat, or go out with friends,
I never know when or how it ends.
I seek their counsel, their words, their wisdom,
At the same time all I want is just my freedom.

Slowly snapping, twisting words like vines,
Giving off a sweet taste like the sweetest of wines.
So many mistakes but even more choices,
In my head can someone please stop these voices?

    How good is this?
You capture the intrusive nature of voices very well, real darkness and clever imagery, topped of with a good rhyming scheme that helps this flow really well.
    well polished piece.
Line two really sets the tone, good use of alliteration,
The final stanza is a really clever write.
    nice job
