Girl of only sixteen years,
not the most beautiful girl
in her classroom.
She wore glasses
and her hair wasn't perfect,
had freckles all over her face
and scored A's like school was easy.
Quiet and reserved, some thought
boring and a nerd, her classmates said
Pretty and shy, her relatives knew,
fat and ugliness as all she saw.
She made everything look easy
because she always had
the right answer to every question
no matter how difficult it was
but what people didn't know was,
she didn't have the answer
to only one question,
which tormented her troubled mind:
How to kill yourself without any pain.
Her mornings were a torture,
every day was a struggle,
life just wasn't for her anymore
and her parents were too busy
to see their daughter had died
a long time ago.
No one gave her any attention
and she only cried more and more
every night before she closed her eyes
and dreamed of her death.
School was a living hell,
reminding her why this world
is not for the weak and the underdog.
Long sleeves, fake smiles
short talks and a bag full of sharp blades
waiting to cut her deep.
She's fighting to find a purpose
all those lies she's been told
all the times she's been used
all the embarrassing moments
and the painful memories
will be erased completely
only when she's gone
and gone she wants to be.
Only a new friend
could save her from herself,
make her change her mind
about destruction
and make her fear death.
And that friends comes
and he's as true as she could wish for.
His words mend her broken heart
and his words draw smiles on her face,
she feels like she's finally found her home
where she won't feel like she's a disgrace.
His eyes remind her of her favorite summer,
the only time she actually felt beautiful.
The day a little boy gave her a flower
and said sad girls deserve to smile.
His warm smile was the most effective pill,
the cure for every problem she'd ever faced.
And his arms were synonyms for safety,
tenderness, eternity, affection, happiness.
Just when she thought she had found love,
he decides to be honest and talk without hesitation:
''There are more beautiful girls than you,
Your classmates think you are weird and abnormal,
bullies treat you like you're some kind of psycho
and your parents don't give you all the love you want..''
''Stop!'' She yells and she runs away
as he stands there still, not knowing what to say.
She throws herself on the bathroom floor,
holding the only thing that's ever been true to her.
''I'll write my life story on my wrist
and my razors will be the pen
since nobody ever stayed with me,
death will be my only loyal friend.''
She cuts in deep, deeper than ever before
her parents aren't at home, she's all alone.
The bathroom floor is painted plain red
If only the blood could make the pain go away
and erase from her mind everything he said.
Her pulse slows down, she closes her eyes
she didn't even write him a letter,
there was no need, she hates goodbye's.
Just before she takes her last breath
she hears her name, it's him screaming,
begging her to respond and say she's okay.
But instead, he sees her lying there, helpless
while a tear falls down her pale cheek.
He takes her in his arms and breaks down,
he curses at the world and at himself
for making her believe she should kill herself.
''There are more beautiful girls than you,
but you're beautiful from within
Your classmates think you are weird and abnormal,
but you're the loveliest girl I've ever seen
Bullies treat you like you're some kind of psycho
yet you're the strongest you've ever been.
And your parents don't give you all the love you want..
but I'll love you as if you were my precious queen.''
He wished she had let him finish his thought
and listened to everything he meant to say,
but it's too late, he wipes away his tears
because boys don't cry his father used to say.
Don't prejudge people, their actions or their words
because you'll never know
how much they love and appreciate you
unless you give them time before you go.
