Missing You

My eyes are misty with unshed tears,
Cringing from the pain of not feeling you near.
Wondering when you're coming home,
to wrap you in my arms, safe and warm.

Seeing you every time I blink,
Just about pushes me over the brink.
Into insanity,crazy and bare,
but also making me,oh, so scared.

The sadness is a cape, covering my other emotions.
Leaving me, not knowing how to function.
Loving and hating you at the same time,
Thinking, I'm about to lose my mind.

One day a soldier came knocking,
And what I heard was very shocking.
That you were gone like dust in the wind,
That this,indeed, was the very end.

I remember the day you said you'd fight,
For someone else's freedom and rights.
Not being selfish at all, its true,
Just standing up for the red, white, and blue.

Today is the day I say goodbye,
Trying to be strong and trying not to cry.
Wondering if we will ever see each other again,
When this life is at its end.
