Breath of My Heart

by Daylight Lucidity   Apr 3, 2013

Can you hear my heart's breath?
Shallow and ragged, unsure of its meaning
Breaking under invisible stress
Screaming with each lie you're saying.
You said you'd never hurt me
Yet you broke my heart just yesterday
I know I wished you away, maybe wrongly,
But only for your own heart's safety, what can you say?
That you hadn't meant it?
That you still love me so?
Yet deep down you're happy with making me hurt
Perhaps hoping I'll get up and go.
Belittled I feel now, yes it's true,
But I never wanted to leave
Just wanted to slow down with you
Rather than rushing as I have before, it always ended in catastrophe.
Listen to the breath of my heart,
Can you hear what it whispers?
That my soul is shattered
Broken beyond repair, I'm sorry and here's the twister-
You can stay, you can go, but it'll never heal
But if you love me like you say you do,
You'll stay with me
And understand every
Breath of my heart.
