This is one of my favorites from the contest. You have such real images but also feeling -- like here:
"as I dip my toe at the road
near the horizon, I burn
and crinkle, flatten
like desire. "
I love that part.. of course toe dipping is a favorite of mine, lol. I really like how you use crinkle and flatten here, contradictory yet meshes well. :)
I am
nothing but a wrinkled wallpaper
unwillingly curling in my corners,
^This is beyond amazing! I just love the metaphor, it's absolutely perfect. I can just picture a piece of paper with the corners curling because of heat or drying after becoming wet.
Nothing tears more at a heart
than being framed in fragmented
figments.
^This made me think of being self conscious and how often people will judge you no matter what. Being framed by their words. Not sure this is what you intended, but it's what I see.
I loved how at the end you emphasize the crinkling, flatten ect part, lovely descriptive words and perfect to describe how much whatever effects you as much as it does that you wish to 'escape' from it.
