The meaning of Beauty

by Christy   Apr 16, 2013

For the longest time the world and society

has defined what beauty should be

Blond hair blue eyes that's a pretty girl

Long hair straight hair that's a pretty girl

Thin not thick girl that's a pretty girl

Light Skin acne free that's a pretty girl

Rich girl popular girl that's a pretty girl

Always got a date girl that's a pretty girl

Church girl and party girl that's a cool girl

smart girl sexy girl that's a pretty girl

For the longest time I have stayed up

Straightening the unruly mass of curls

I wanna be pretty like the rest of the world

Feeling guilty every time I consume sweets

Buying and using the most expensive makeup

Until the kit broke and it was time for a new one

Dyeing my hair different shades and getting bangs

But what happens when my hair starts to fall out

From the lack of proper treatment for my hair

I just wanted to look like the rest of the world

What happens when my face breaks out more

What happens when my quest for a size zero

Puts me in the hospital with little chance at life

I just wanted to look like the rest of the world

What happens when my quest for popularity

Ends with a bloody hole in my head from my

Hands What happens when the surgery I had

Done Makes me unrecognizable to my family

And friends I just wanted to look like the rest

Of the world What happens when my flirty

personality results in rape and I face the shame

And guilt alone I just wanted to be like the rest of

The World or when a teen walks alone to an

Abortion clinic I just want to be like the rest of the

World What happens when a five year old girl

Wants to be sexy or when teens are killed drinking

And driving in the dark after an extremely wild party

i just wanted to be like the rest of the world

What happens when my lies catch up with me

And I am no longer able to live a double life

I completely ditch all my morals and values

For a grave covered in gold, silver, and bronze

What happens when we as a society encourage

Them in their lifestyles. When a liquor store

Is planted right outside a college campus When

Every major market place has rows stuffed with

Magazines made only for the Affluent and wealthy

What happens when I allow my children to walk

Out the door of my house every night completely

Stoned But what happens when one person fights

Against the waves and refuses to be drowned in

Consumerism and a greedy and unwise nation

What happens when one person realizes that

Beauty is not in the eyes of the beholder

Beauty is not in the eyes of the created ones

Beauty is in the eyes of the Creator and in His eyes

All are beautiful, and all have a purpose and a hope

What happens when more start realizing that true and

Perfect Beauty is clothed in honesty and purity

Beauty is happy in her own skin and wishes to be no

One better than herself. Beauty does not need to sink

Into the mold, and is not afraid to stick out and be bold

Beauty takes care of herself, physically and spiritually

Beauty does not waste money on no good products

Beauty uses ones that work best for her hair and skin

Beauty lives in society, but does not conform to all

Societies ways and customs Beauty is not just about

The outward, but its about the hear. Beauty does not

Seek the acceptance of others, but knows where she

Is excepted, where she is treasured, where she is valued

Beauty values and respect her self and is clothed in honor

And dignity Every single one of us are beautiful, yet only
Some of us are able to see the beauty and act accordingly
