Spiralling

by Jenni Marie   Apr 17, 2013

Words spiral as passions flare
heated moments, unforgiveable sentiments
anger curling like a snake around both hearts
uttered darts strike cruelly, causing unhealed wounds
bleeding and temporarily unable to be rectified.

passion too fierce, anger too strong, pride too stubborn
all the while loyalty, friendship and love trying to scramble
from beneath broken branches, fighting against egotism and
rage; bitter struggle ensues whilst positivity fights to remain
on top yet is constantly bitten by infuriation and untold ire.

altercasions clash colliding together unaware of the damage
they can create; unaware of the emotions and heartache
placed into solving them and into avoding them. For love can never
be sure of certain triumph when negative emotions are involved in
the equation. Especially when loosening fury and allowing it to wrap
it's pale shaking hands, around an empty inviting white throat.

Anger, you may have the best of us now-
but friendship will succeed, care will thrive
and love will always triumph.

*After an argument with a Douche. <3

I'm glad that you've found such a strong friendship with Stefano, I'm sure it's one that will last a long time. This is definitely what true friendship is like, you'll have your ups & downs and disagreements but in the end, you're patient with one another and work your way through it. I must say I love this prose-like form you've been writing in recently, it's new and different from you and it works quite well. Perhaps it was cause you were sort of venting you say but it works real well I think! Nice job :D

I am reviewing this poem because it's actually also about me, since me and Jenni have argued so many times and, thank god, have always been able to clear it up.
It makes me happy and proud to see that a poem like this has come out of her mind after one of our arguments because it really makes me thing that whatever happens, we'll always been able to sort it out. We've had to be extremely patient at times trying to understand each other's feelings, but that's really fine as long as we were able to fix it.

I particularly loved the second stanza, perfectly describing the fight that friendship had to go through in order to get the best of anger, and so far friendship's always had the best of it, and I'm proud of it.

And just like the last stanza suggests, it doesn't matter how much anger there might be ..... because love and friendship will prevail. Anger, after all, is just a temporary thing, and once the clouds have passed ... the sky is primordially pure, and the sun will shine in all its greatness.

Jenni, this was really well penned, and full of high charged energy and anger, the emotion was pretty evident and that this is someone who means a lot to you, and you feel that the argument was something that could have been prevented, and you hope that although the anger between you is strong now, you'll find the common ground and put it behind you.

I liked the wording you used, sometimes it felt a little too wordy and especially in the last large stanza, the lack of punctuation made it hard to flow... especially this part

    for love can never
be sure of certain triumph when negative emotions are involved in
the equation especially when loosening fury and allowing it to wrap
it's pale shaking hands around an empty inviting white throat.

^^Just too much of a mouthful, made it hard to make sense of, had to read it over a couple of times

Otherwise though, really honest poem, and touched on the ups and downs of friendship
