Just Friends

by cati   Apr 18, 2013

With each ignored text
my heart breaks
When I utter, it's over
my voice shakes

For three long years
I called you mine
But eventually I couldn't
keep wasting my time

All I ever wanted
was a ring on my finger
But for years
You just let me linger

Your family is mine
and we share the same friends
I never imagined
that we would end

I made mistakes
but so did you
For the rest of my life
I would have been true

But I want a family
and you wanted to date
Being your lifelong girlfriend
wasn't part of my fait

You ask over and over
for a little more time
But the three years I waited
was beyond too kind

I will love you always
Your an amazing man
But from now till death
We shall remain just friends
