Cry

My will to hold back my pain gave out last night,
The monsters in the shadows grasped my heart
And ripped out the stitches that sewed it back together tight
And now the dam of my tears washes over like a predator in the dark.
Cry, that's all I can do
To remember that I once loved, was once happy,
As I walk this lonely road of dreams murdered by things I wish to undo
While everything I walked away from pushes against me, traps me...
Thunder rumbles over my weary head
As lightning strikes me as I hold onto the umbrella of dark thoughts
Never have I been this fully afraid
Of what powers lurk in the night I so desperately love, within the woods I walk.
My sanity flew away with all my capability to love,
No, I don't really miss its presence
Truly this is all just so complicated, and I have had enough
Of the sadness, the uncertainty, my lack of innocence.
Cry.
This is all I can do to live with my insanity
And after all the times I tried
To hold on to my humanity
Unsuccessfully; I look to the moon
For answers to questions I never asked
Might I be joining it oh so soon
As the knife that is depression gleams within my grasp...
My tears roll steadily and freely down my pale cheeks
As if they can somehow release me of the torture I grow accustomed to
Along with all the lies people tell me
But all I can do is merely cry
Hoping there will be lighter, sweeter, times.
