Caught in the Middle

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 24, 2013

We pass each other handfuls of kettle corn
with nothing short of empathy,

asking "is it alright to hum? because I need
my serotonin levels higher and this would
make me happier"

just trying to become motivated, move the days
forward, and not fall
behind...

Kettle corn sounds like pop corn!!

Except that it sounds sweet. And that would demotivate me lol. Okay, this isnt about me.
I enjoyed this poem. The kettle corn appeals to my mind and makes me see a living room and watching tv while switching channels just trying to find something to lift you up. I think many of us have done so.

    Well done

I had the oddest of images I feel, maybe not. I see your family on the couch eating popcorn watching a movie, enjoying time together& just relaxing. Your motivation is at an all time low and you just need something to comfort you and help you get through difficult days. I most definitely know this feeling, not wanting to get out of bed some days, feeling dull and just wanting to do absolutely nothing. Wishing you were in a better mood and more motivated so that you could get things accomplished and perhaps the day would be easier. However life just isn't that simple, of course there's specific things in our bodies like seratonin that may help improve our mood & mind but in the end we are the ones who have to dig deep for the motivation to keep going and do our best. You feel stuck, trapped, 'caught in the middle' - perhaps not enough time even. Interesting poem, definitely not your typical poem in my eyes but made me think of what your poetic mind was up to :D
