Deep Blue: Poseidon

by Jack Nightengale   Apr 29, 2013

Upon a mountain standing high,
I look over it all from the sky.
Infuriated and enraged like the sea,
When the storm comes and waves crash they think of me.

Unbound by the dark, grasping hold of all light,
The ocean is my territory crushing my enemies with full might.
Gentle be my hands as ships travel and pass,
Even calmer for the fishermen as I clear the ocean like glass.

Through the heavens they pray,
For theirs loved ones to comeback safe from sea one day.
Though I am trapped and feared by all others,
I'm not the youngest or the eldest but the middle to brothers.

Unearthly passion in force I pound against the ground,
Lifting waves strong enough to cover everything around.
My power and prowess is more fierce than that of any lion,
When in the deep blue, I am Poseidon.

This is different from your usual dark poetry, which is a good thing. I like a lot of the lines in this piece, but the one that sticks out the most?
" Through the heavens they pray
For their loved ones to comeback safe from sea one day. "
For some odd reason, this stood out most to me. Greatjob on this.
