You are mine

by Rozalina Reyes   Apr 29, 2013

It's here and now
Now or never...
I guess I'll wait another day
Another serenade
To a masked avenger.
Marking new paths,
Covering the old roads
With olive and palm branches.
I believe in God and Jesus above,
But, Why can't I save my self?
The rope round my neck
twists and knots.
Digging my own grave...
"wife, mother" that's what my tomb stone shall read.
Enough!
Enough oh harsh dealings,
Let me write of life, you.
How I love you...
How I care,
I'd do all you wish and more.
None of it to me is silly...
You.
You are music to my heart
And my soul...
My soul feels light
My soul feels complete
When your near.
Oh come here my dear one,
My most wanted...
But no, stay there,
Stay there unabated undaunted.
You are the secret strength
I bear the days in...
My lovely fount of laugh
And love...
Of the morbid and the sun...
All is well in love and life.
Fear no chain of strife..

    "Another serenade
    To a masked avenger."

    - I really like your word choice here, almost like you were romanticizing the end, death.

The part that really hit me was how you said with such passion you believe in God & Jesus yet you can't save yourself, like you have all the means to but you just don't have faith enough in yourself.

I liked the twist in the middle, how you almost "recalled" and drew into your thoughts this person who has shaped you in away, been a beacon to you, and the "secret strength". That was neat, my only suggestion would be to make the transition more noticeable with a break in the stanza or saying how he/she has changed your mind, I just think it's too quick of a thought change between the frustration and despair in the beginning then the closing lines of "all is well".
