The Days Tell Tales

by Lemon   Apr 30, 2013

The days tell tales
Upon your face
In your eyes
The way you walk
Your heavy heart
It breaks your back
Your smile's been stolen
Replaced with a lie
But you can let the truth shine
Brighter than the sun

I thought this was a great little piece

    "Brighter than the sun"

The only thing I would of said
    Was a diffrent ending cause
    It's a bit of a cliche ...

    Other then that awesome write

Emotional pain can be seen through the way one carries themselves sometimes. Some can put on a mask, pretend to be happy but at the end of the day, when they are home... it shows...their eyes, walk, talk, everything changes.

Sometimes you can tell someone is having a bad day just by looking at them...body language is key with a lot of things.

You captured that very nicely here, great job!

Simple. My favorite kind of poem is the very short, simple, punch-packing write, and this is one of them. It's not on of those "I wear my fake smile" poems that we all see so often. It's really being specific when it talks says

    "Your smile's been stolen
    Replaced with a lie."

That is what made me totally love this poem. Too often are we lying through our teeth, in the form of a smile - nobody knowing about the anguish underneath.

I also love how you talk about the physical changes of someone in a negative mental state.

    "In your eyes
    The way you walk
    Your heavy heart
    It breaks your back"

In truth, when you really are feeling like crap, you are kind of hunched over slightly, or your arms are crossed, or your eyes are unfocused. I tend to notice that about people, and not many realize they're doing it. So it was a cool thing to kind of make known that some can physically register when someone else is in distress.

    Wonderful write!

Thank you for your lovely comment :). I wrote this about someone close to me who was having a hard time- it was upsetting seeing the change in them. Luckily, they are okay now :)
