Soul

by Blood of a Lion   May 3, 2013

Soul

Dear soul,
Why is it that you do not die?
Death hounds the flesh,
And yet it does not find me.
Continually passing over my tired soul,
And yet you take others?
Or is it that death is too good for me?
Knowing that my death would mean nothing.

I have witnessed,
Even understanding that death is not a journey,
But a terrible enemy that devours man.
And yet I do not run,
But stand before it daring it to move.

Yet when it finally does,
It does not strike me but others.
Why?
I have begged for you,
Even seeking you out.

So come, so that we may end this debate.

Sometimes the ones who wish to greet Death with a smile are the ones he does not wish to take, not yet. You have a purpose to fulfill before then. Live life while you are still capable... death won't do you any favors.

I do like that this is more of a 'letter to me' type deal, but it's more poetic. When reading suicidal poems, most use overused phrases... this was unique.

A very somber mood radiates through me after reading this... I do hope everything is okay and maybe this is one of those bad day, release type writes.

I've been told that those who seek never find.

Love and death, they come when one least expect them.
