Shattered Hearts And Lost Dreams

by Dominique Lewis   May 10, 2013

Roses petals spread on the floor below,
But those are for her...
This pain in my chest starts to grow,
These tears are making everything a total blur.

A loud crack fills the air,
Was that my heart?
Everyone starts to stare,
My heart has just been torn apart.

What about those dreams we shared?
Those dreams that are now lost,
Here I stand thinking that you actually cared,
I knew loving you would come at a cost.

Fresh new wounds along my wrist,
Don't you know how I feel?
The walls are meeting my fist,
These wounds from you just won't heal.

I have been wrong and now I am totally gone,
There is no coming back from where you sent me,
This was a game of chess and I was just a pathetic pawn,
I am buried here underneath this weeping willow tree.

I ask this tree "Why are you weeping?"
It replies "Poor child you have died."
With I soft whisper I reply "No I am just sleeping."
You see my grave and your tongue is tied...

I bet you weren't expecting me to die,
I bet you wish you could of had me instead,
You reach up to wipe your now teary eye,
Your heart is now filled with dread.

Goodbye my sweet,
See you in hell,
This is what you get when you cheat,
Go back into your shell.

I am done with these shattered hearts and lost dreams.
