Glory is Expensive [String Tanka]

by Khalid M Darwish   May 11, 2013

Nobody knows that
some people do all their best
and struggle so hard
not to be just famous but
to be just normal people

The more difficult
your struggle, the more glory
you have with winning
Your self-satisfaction needs
a struggle of top greatness

You'd sleep, not your heart
that falls in love of glory
not in love of loss -
awake, thinking not eating,
while others just eat and sleep

First stanza: Very true... fame comes with a price. You have no privacy whatsoever. Once you become famous, you can throw privacy out the window. Everything you do will be watched, recorded and logged. At first they want the fame, but then later they realize they just want to live normal lives.

Second stanza: The more you struggle, the more you appreciate what your struggle is worth when you achieve your goal.

Third stanza: I got a little confused with this stanza but after a few reads I think I got what you are trying to say. The fame, the struggle, the stress of it all keeps you up at night, can't sleep, can't eat.

    Overall a great piece!
