Ups And Downs

by Dominique Lewis   May 13, 2013

I remember the day we met,
You were so sweet and shy,
I can see your palms starting to sweat,
I turn away and look at the radiant blue sky.

Should I talk first since he hasn't said a word,
I get sick of the silence and break the ice,
You start talking about cars and all I can think is "What a nerd"

We start going on dates and start falling in love,
You take me home that night and ask me if you can give me a goodbye kiss,
Your kiss was so gentle and it sent me to the world above,
The cat is by our feet and lets out a little hiss.

We had our first fight and broke up,
Why does this have to start now?
What about our dream of that little house and pup?
I looked at my tear stained face and just said "Wow."

You hurt me but yet I forgive you,
Why am I such a forgiving girl?
But why am I the one that always has to feel so blue?
Seeing you two together makes me want to hurl.

We are starting over and trying to make things work,
I love you still but please I just don't want hurt,
So please don't start being a total jerk,
If you hurt me again your face will get shoved into the dirt.

We have our ups and downs like every other human being,
But we at least forgive each other,
We know how to start agreeing,
I love him more then you love your brother.

So don't judge us cause we are odd,
Judge us because we know how to love,
The crowd will look at us and applaud,
Go ahead and be jealous cause we are that cool to be riding a dove.
