When I was a little girl, to my mother I would say
"Mommy, mommy, mommy, make the monsters go away!!"
And she would hold me close and run her fingers though my hair
"Close your eyes and count to three, then the monsters won't be there"
So yesterday, I closed my eyes and slowly count to three
Trying to get rid of the monsters, chasing after me
And while it worked for a little girl, long ago, that day
Right now in the present, the monsters wont go away...
