The Willow Girl

by Alexandria   May 15, 2013

Roses by the graveside
Tears upon a pillow
A young broken heart to hide
In the arms of a protecting willow

Words whispered longingly at night
Forever engraved and burned
Plans and promises fade by light
Of the naive dreams spurned

Roses wilted, pedals falling
Pillow wet and stained
The search party looking and calling
The willow girl was framed
