Not Superwoman

by Daylight Lucidity   May 17, 2013

Sometimes I forget
Why I wake up every morning
Seeing only their regret
Of not looking past me and my storm
But cussing me out,
Telling me to go die in a ditch,
Pushing me farther into my shell
Where I hide in disgrace, a mere glitch
In society's programming.
I'm not your superwoman,
I'm not going to be closing
The dark doors you open.
I'm not perfect, I don't fly,
I don't even know how to breathe
Every time I try
To see past your schemes.
I am not beautiful,
I am not a size zero,
But I am me, and if I'm truthful,
I really love the girl who isn't a hero.
All I can promise is that
I will wipe your tears
I can promise you that
You no longer have to give in to your fears.
I'm not superwoman
But for you, I can try.

This is amazing. Such a strong poem here. Really is lovely and the fact that you show your "weaknesses" and show that even though you may not see yourself in the best light due to societal pressure you're content with saying you love the girl who isn't perfect.
    Nicely done.
