Live Like a Ghost

by Andrew Packard   May 21, 2013

Reawaken again to a morbid dream
Out of black hollow eyes cob webs stream
Tethered path of drudgery "I" coast
My unreceived utterances as if I'm a ghost

World so fake can't say what you think
Whirl winds fray teeter on the brink
Stark reality knows not what to believe
Lost are the souls that strive to achieve

Something inside mounts and rises
Flat screams fall short in fetal rages
Bound by a curse you just wanna cuss
Accusing voice, "Your best just isn't good enough..."

Hurt me again I just want to feel
Search a reason to care all is unreal
The will drained and emptied
Pale cold blood stain bleed

Sensation forgotten numb and dull
Imagine-less walls rot the skull
Like a distant siren dopamine head
Stoop crouched staring already dead

This was such an interesting poem, on one side it is filled with sorrow, longing, depression. Hinting at a troubled life and longing for a better world to belong in. But on the other hand it aims at society and how it an shape a person, and how they feel they must change themselves or hide themselves to be acceptable on the public eye.

The end held quite a dark am eerie tone.

I liked the rhyme throughout and the flow, I don't think I read many rhyming poems with such a dark tone it them.

Very realistic views and thoughts, but worded quite uniquely. Well done
