The Fire Still Burns

by Autumn Leaves   May 22, 2013

I outlay all our memories
on our bedroom floor.
I realize these two people in
these photographs don't
exist anymore.

We were so young in love we
knew the skies had no limit
we believed in fairytales and
assured our families and friends
that we would live it.

You were never a prince but
you prosess qualities of,
I am no Cinderella but I do
know how to love.

On the wings of melodies I know
we can fly. I won't give-up or see
pass the blueness in your eyes.

Drawing me in like the vast
ocean, yes you keep me at bay
and I now realize we only
physically changed.

I love you

So sweet and young, just like love should always be... I loved it 5/5... one mistake though should it be *possess?

I loved that 2nd stanza, I love fairy tales, I want to believe everyone deserves kind of fairy tale love story...

I really appreciate the rhyme scheme throughout this poem.

    I outlay all our memories
    on our bedroom floor.
I realize these two people in
    these photographs don't
    exist anymore.

^ I love the image this creates, scattered photographs and a sense of nostalgia. It makes me sad to think that most everything is digital now and in the future very few people will have the chance to experience this, the nostalgic feeling of the past coming to life for brief moments in room.

We were so young in love we
knew the skies had no limit
    we believed in fairytales and
    assured our families and friends
    that we would live it.

^ The hope this radiates is rare, most are torn down by the ideas of reality and lose that fairy tale life that they've always yearned for.

You were never a prince but
    you process qualities of,
I am no Cinderella but I do
    know how to love.

^ Did you mean poses rather than process? My mind auto correct it as I read it the first time, but then questioned it the second. If you actually mean process, I apologize, just a thought.

On the wings of melodies I know
we can fly. I won't give-up or see
pass the blueness in your eyes.

^ I really love this stanza, "wings of melodies" is such a lovely term. I also like the word association (I believe that's the proper term? because wordplay wouldn't be. But I could be off.) with flying and the blueness of eyes. I think it's clever.

Drawing me in like the vast
ocean, yes you keep me at bay
and I now realize we only
    physically changed.

    I love you

^ More clever lines (: This poem is incredibly sweet, the story it draws out and the words you use to express the thoughts behind this infinite romance is great.

Oh and I really missed reading your poetry btw (:
