I think sometimes our expectations let us down rather than what 'love' lets us down. We could have the best guy in the world, but then we expect him to do/say certain things, like in movies/books, etc... and when he doesn't, we feel like he doesn't 'love' us and we feel disappointed. That's what I got from this poem.

First stanza: You expected love to sweep you off your feet and to be in pure passionate bliss forever. I love the use of "furious ocean" especially when used with passion.

Second stanza: As you grew older, you realized love isn't a fairy tale.

Third stanza: LOVE "picturesque puddle" ... ties in so beautifully with the ocean metaphor...it shows disappointment and loneliness. I just really love this entire stanza, my favorite of the whole piece.

Ending line: Very true ending here. You can't connect expectations and disappointments together.

I love this whole piece, girl! Beautiful with tons of imagery. <3

You've painted a tragic image of love. Love can fulfill your dream and it can break your dream as well. Overall, you've written a nice poem.

I think we expect too much from love, we watch too many films, read to many books and forget that reality is a damn sight harsher.

I think it takes heartbreak for us to find the truth, and in ways that is a sad thing because I still hang on to the thought that somewhere there is someone perfect for us.

You penned this piece with elegance, and it spoke a lot of sense, and I loved the imagery.

As always Crystal, the flow was smooth and your passion and heart was evident in this piece :) x

The changing view of love from that first heady youthful romantic expectation to the realisation that love does not always remain that way is wonderfully portrayed in this piece.
'Love is a picturesque puddle rippled by the cries of broken dreamers like myself' is my favourite line it neatly shows how flawed our dreams and expectations can be.
Flowing and beautifully lyrical with a masterful use of imagery it is such a great piece.
