Titanic Heart

by Daylight Lucidity   May 26, 2013

It sank to the bottom of the sea,
At the end of the tragic events
She tossed it into the ocean's body
And it was consumed by its black depths.
Mermaids brought it back,
Thieving and greedy
Biting my neck
Teasing and beating me.
I could do nothing to stop it,
Its sinking into the deep blue,
And when people fetch it
I ruin everything they do.
I do not want it back, I do not want these feelings
Love has done nothing but torture
My life's undefined meaning
On this dark and taunting border.
This necklace is a noose,
This ring a brand,
I bury and burn the truth
That my heart's lodged in sand
Underneath the pacific
Happily and forlorn
Just like I want it
I can not feel love's bittersweet thorn.
Maybe I'll just walk away,
And leave my story untold
And maybe one day
Someone will find a piece of gold
Within the algae covered remains
Of that long forgotten depart
I'm done with the pain;
Enjoy my titanic heart.

I agree I think you captured this very well. And your rhyming was great. the imagery was great as well. Its sad what truly happened here though such a tragic event. You write great works. The play in my head haha 5/5
