Oblivion

by Edward Oropeza   May 29, 2013

A whisper so mute
from a bird's squeaky voice,

the sound of fallen leaves
dares to break serenity...
and caressing waves
play its humming trumpet,

but a void within me
knows no music
it's an abyss of fear,
a stutter of selfishness...

But a miracle of time
even larvae in cocoon
destined to brisk,

a raging courage
sparks in my spirit...

so a loud cry rang
to make silence upset
and hear me singing...

I really enjoyed reading this, so thank you for brining it to attention as it is a shame when good poems get buried.

I liked the opening and the image I got of a fragile little bird trying to call out but only a whisper escaped, like it hasn't even found its voice yet but it needs to be heard.

I also like the wording of an abyss of fear, then followed by stutter of selfishness, they flow together really well and showed some sort of sorrow and regret for me, like the pain is hiding there within.

I then like the mention of the cocoon and the courage, like you have found that inner strength.

I think this poem can symbolise a lot of different things, but one way is the moment when you find out who you are. It could also be healing, like when you reach a point in recovery from some trauma that you feel yourself beginning to heal again.

    Nice poem, well done.

This poem comes in no form, it does not follow some pattern and rules, and it may be in the free form, since no rules and merely just declaration from a conceiving mind.
